About ‘Make it Happen’
A New Centre for Everyone: Children, Young People, and Adults
Everything you need to know about our amazing project.
We have purchased a fantastic detached building in Ayr, formerly the St. Andrews Hotel and we have big plans to create a wonderful new centre for children, young people and adults affected by cancer in Ayrshire. We hope the building will serve our community for many, many years to come, hence our passion for getting it right – first time!
About The Centre
Our new centre will comprise 12 areas allowing us to both meet the needs of our existing, growing services but also expand into much needed support and services for children and young people. The new centre will have age appropriate facilities for existing and younger service users with library and resources aimed to helping them through their journey.
The work we need to do
Having submitted our planning application to create a 12 room centre, there is much work we need to do to turn our dream in to a reality. This will involve flattening the building’s current extension and rebuilding a bespoke drop in centre as well as children and young people’s spaces with level access. All existing windows will be replaced, internal walls will be taken down to create larger rooms as well as complementary therapy rooms. The centre will play host to two complementary therapy rooms, a counselling room, a large and smaller group room, children and young people’s private rooms, a drop in centre, and library spaces.
The Services We’ll Offer
Our aim is to ensure we are ready to help when you need it most. As a centre for everyone, we will offer everything from patient transport, to complementary therapies, counselling, support, a specialist cancer nurse for children, young people and adults alike.
